Dr. Weiss had years of experience flying aircraft and was no novice. I find it odd that officials are unclear about the connection between the lack of a beacon light at the highest point of a dark mountain at night, behind which the airport was located, and the pilot's death. That smacks of an attempt to abdicate responsibility for the crash by the local government and/or those who were responsible for maintaining the safety equipment that would have alerted Dr. Weiss to the presence of the mountain peak. Interesting that he circled four times before he went down -- clearly, he was trying to find the access point to the airport, no? Gee, I wonder if that beacon light might not have been helpful, and if he had been using it in the past as a marker to guide his way... Baruch HaDayan HaEmet, and may the Truth be Revealed.
