KIRYAS JOEL – A smoky fire ripped through a dorm at an Orthodox Jewish boys school in the Kiryas Joel section of Orange County. Eyewitness News is told the fire broke out at around midnight in the dorm on Berdichev Drive.
The fire spewed heavy smoke throughout the large structure.
Officials say several firefighters were treated for minor injuries. The dorm was evacuated, but no students were injured.
Firefighters battled the blaze for hours, but it was not under control. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
