Serious Credibility Issue
With just over 48 Hours until the polls close in this years crucial primary election, you may start to hear those little voices in head debate each other as to who to cast my vote for. Of course we all want to do the “right” thing, but separating right from wrong may be another story. We all have, at some point or another, discussed or heard about the issues facing us that may reshape the landscape here in Lakewood. There is no doubt in any ones mind that there are real concerns here, whether it’s the skyrocketing property taxes, over-development, congestion, wasteful spending, quality of life,and many more. Given, that the hectic nature of our lives, or lack of real knowledge of the political system keeps us from dissecting and deciding, we often turn to guidance for help, and rely on the recommendations made to us, and believe it to truly be in our best interests. As in the years past, we’ve once again heard from an advisory board called “THE VAAD” asking us to go by their recommendations claiming it to be in the best interest of the community. These recommendations can carry weight and should be considered, if it’s an honest plea to the public by people who really do look out for your best interest and have nothing personally to gain from it.

Unfortunately, I am saddened to report that this is not the case with this board. The tactics used in luring the masses to their choice candidate are deceiving and their motives are tainted with personal gain.You don’t need to be a genius to see some of the obvious clues. If you had a moment to look at their brochure, you may have noticed that there are no names associated with this board. If you cant even post your names on a letter of recommendation how do you expect anyone to trust you? Why are you hiding behind anonymity? Now if that’s not enough to dissuade you, then look at the letters they pasted on the brochure from the Rosh Yeshivos of Lakewood. This is a letter they pulled out of the archives from a previous election, removed the date and posted it as new. These deceptive methods are shocking and outright dirty, and it is very scary that there may people who are still so naive and fooled to believe the authenticity of this brochure. No one wants to be taken advantage of, so all I can suggest is to think about it yourself, or if you can’t think for yourself then you should personally ask your Rabbi.

Property Tax Rate Hike In The Face Of Upcoming Elections!!

This just in.

Sources in the Lakewood Township confirm that this year’s new tax rate will be INCREASED TO A WHOPPING 2.294% which translates to the following;

If your new assessment was lowered by less than 19% (average assessment was lowered by only 12%) then your taxes are going up again this year. I’m sure this news is very disturbing to most taxpayers who are already burdened with an already over inflated tax bill.

With property tax being the number one issue in this year’s primary election, one must wonder how an incumbent candidate backed by a majority vote on the committee would allow this increase to take effect.

14th St. Residents opposing Georgian Court expansion

Bob Singer is on the Board of Directors of Georgian Court College. He has advised them how to get their 105 acres of vacant land to be totally exempt. He worked with the Assessor & Twp Attorney to make totally exempt when legally it was not exempt but no one challenged it. The land value was some 100 million dollars, that a lot of tax dollars lost. As long as Bob Singer is on the Township Committee the 14th St residents and all of the other behind the scene opponents including Shain will get no place.

Shenky & the VAAD are distorting the truth “again”

The story by Reb Shneuer was with the Governor race in NJ. Reb Shneuer met with both of them (I believe Governor Kean-who was not Jewish). Reb Shneuer told the opponent that we must have a Hakoras Hatov to the incumbent New Jersey Governor, therefore we must vote for him even though you may be better for us. He stated further that NJ Governor was always fair to us.

On the other hand when George B. ( A powerful Local politician) Married out of the Religion, Rav Yankel Weisberg was in the forefront that “we can’t back George B. anymore. Don’t forget that the current race is with a Meshumad, which is ossur to vote for him no matter how you twist it. Even for “pikuach-Nefesh” you can’t transgress a “Chilul-Hashem”.

Its really a sad state of affairs that Shanky is calling Reb Shneur ZT’L Morey V’rabey and R’ Shneur ZT’L was Mechunach him in Hakoras Hatov. Maybe Shenkey needs to be Makir Tov for BS hooking him up with what ever Shenkey needed for his OWN POCKETS. But what does that have to do with the rest of the city. Why do i have to be Makir Tov to a Meshumad who stole from me to enrich Shanky. If the Rosh Yeshiva feels so strong about Shenky he should hold a town hall style meeting and let the Oilam hear B’rochel B’itcha Hak’tana what BS and Shenky have going on that is so beneficial.

I have reviewed the “choice is yours” the Lakewood Republican primary candidates position.

1. Senator Singer-The Strand Theater has been a liability to the Lakewood Tax payers for many years, why did it take 29 years for Senator Singer to realize it?

2. Blue Claws-It’s a well known fact that Senator Singer brought the Blue Claws to Lakewood. Senator Singer negotiated the deal that is costing the taxpayers millions. The Democrat (Cunliffe) only tweaked some of the items in the contract.

3. The Public works monster is costing the taxpayer millions in tax dollars. It was never a viable plan, cost wise. No other towns ever intended to use Lakewood’s Public works facility. Senator Singer was behind the Public Works facility from day one. Senator Singer was made aware of the waste, inefficiencies, the constant purchase of NEW unneeded equipment. “Completely reworked”? Senator Singer knows that it was corrupt from day zero.

4. Senator Singer I will have an “Independent audit done on all Town Contracts & departments”? In the past 2 years alone (Senator Singer was in full control) there were proposals sent to the Township for a complete audit, which would not have been a cost the Township a penny (It was based on a small percent of the savings). Senator Singer didn’t even let the Township respond to the proposals. Senator Singer wants to hide the waste, corruption, etc of the Township.

5. Senator Singer- “Every Township contract to be bid……” Senator Singer was told privately & publicly that the purchasing department is costing the tax payers dearly due to the methods employed? Senator Singer’s response “According to Law not all purchase & contracts need to be bid-so we will not do it”. Was the real reason, so the contracts can be given to the pay-for-play? (which they are currently doing)

6. Senator Singer “Engineering, Planning, Legal counsel brought in-house”. Senator Singer, how many times was that addressed from the podium in public & letters to your Honor & the Township committee? Is it again pay-for-play?

7. Senator Singer- “This year I didn’t allow any New Vehicles for Public works or Police-first time in 12 years”. How can one even attempt to justify replacing new vehicles with “newer vehicles?” It was criminal to have the police & Public works purchase new vehicles for the past 12 years, isn’t it embarrassing to even state that fact.

8. Senator Singer- Re: Serving on various Township Boards….”I will make those decisions through Citizens input”… In all of Senator Singer’s years (29) on the Township Committee those appointments were made by Pay-for-Play. Conflict of interest was all the more reason for an appointment to the boards.

9. Senator Singer- Lakewood has 100 employees making over $100,000; “I will explore moving away from Civil service”. Senator Singer, it took 29 years to realize that? How did you come to realize it now? Was it your opponent?

10. Specific proposals to make the local government more transparent-Senator Singer- “all agendas will be written in plain English, Land being sold, transferred etc will give a full description of street address, location, cross streets etc. It won’t say “Block x, lot, x” Wasn’t that mandated 4 years ago by Judge Grasso in Shain V. Lakewood? Why was it never implemented?

11. “Monetary assistance, Land, garbage, etc to local Organization” Senator Singer –“ I am in full support of doing the partnering, etc”. Even though in this economy we can’t afford it. Isn’t the real reason is to have bought their vote (with tax payer’s funds) to have in your pocket at election time?

12. Smart Growth Plan- Senator Singer;” In Favor of it……..”You know that the proposed huge expansion plans of Georgian Court & the growth of Beth Medrash Govoha can’t work. Wouldn’t smart growth include working on one of the 2 Colleges to make a Campus at Cedar Bridge Corp or the Lakewood golf course & pine park?

13. Senator Singer-“We have fixed the Tax Department”. The facts; Senator Singer was the Township’s liaison to the tax department. Senator Singer got the Township to give the assessor a bonus of $10,-25, 000 dollars for handling the appeals. By law & contract the assessor is supposed to represent the Township at the appeals. Senator Singer also authorized the hiring outside professionals, thereby spending unjustly of close to a million dollars of tax payer’s dollars every year. Isn’t also a fact that the assessor wanted to quit many times and you convinced her to remain, to the detriment of the taxpayers. Isn’t also a fact that the real reason she retired was the filings against her in the State tax division? Isn’t also a fact that you gave her a very lucrative retirement package, knowing full well that she has been a liability to the taxpayers to the tune of millions of dollars?

14. Senator Singer, “I am opposed to building any new Town hall” Really? it’s was your idea, don’t wait 29 years.

15. Senator Singer I am opposed to building “Children’s museum at public’s expense”. Senator Singer isn’t swapping an expensive piece of land for a builder to be able to construct housing “A public’s expense”? Even when the builder will donate a few dollars towards a “children’s museum” located by the “seniors” developments? Children’s Musuem located where they can’t get to. The seniors were concerned about noise, safety (no sidewalks) , etc so why would a children’s be better that a yeshiva? Senator, do you have anything against them?

Why The Double Standard?!

I would honestly like to understand, why?

Why is it considered corruption or at the very least unethical when a public servant receives a sweetheart deal, yet when a member of the Vaad who they promote themselves as being there for the Klal (aka public service) dips their hand into the cookie jar it’s ok and their agendas promoted and smoke screened under the guise of “Daas Torah”. My opinion of them is that their motives are totally tainted and cause a lack of achdus here in Lakewood which does not exist anywhere else in this Country. I’m just wondering why the Rosh Yeshivas are so blinded by the obvious. I will mention that there are a few Vaad members that are true Oskim B’tzorchei Tzibbur, and Hashem should watch over them and give them Hatzlacha!

Senator SINGER claims, The VOUCHER program being put through the State is his doing……The facts are that originally Lakewood wasn’t even in the districts listed (Hakoras Hatov?) till someone picked up on it & raised the roof. I think it may have been Josh Pruzansky from Aguda. The reason Lakewood wasn’t automatically listed was because Lakewood is a poor district but rich in assets (as heard in another forum from Aaron Kotler). Why did Senator Singer almost blew the Voucher program, because he’s spending too much time in Lakewood (doing shenanigans) when he should be FULL TIME in TRENTON.

Great letter with very poor response from Pinny

Regarding your article about current Lakewood politics, in the past I agreed with your stance on many issues. And just 2 years ago I would have agreed with this week’s article as well. However during the past year or two, unfortunately there were several instances during which the general populace of Lakewood, among them many Rabbanim chashuvim – in Lakewood and out of lakewood, plainly saw a lack of erlichkeit on the part of 1or 2 of the roshei yeshivos and mashgiach. Because of this they have lost much respect and are not trusted much any more by many.

with the cheder bais faiga fight, and the G issue –with Rav Elyashiv insisting that the rosh yeshiva and mashgiach must respond to a hazmanah l’din and go to bais din instead of street-fighting- a basic concept in halacha which they have currently still refused to do, and then the Corzine-Christie fiasco which many many Rabbonim saw as greed flying in the face of daas torah, they have embarrassed themselves in public again and again to the detriment of Klal Yisroel and kvod shomaim. In your article, you choose to ignore this new reality in Lakewood.

To my knowledge Hershel Hershkowitz never mentioned any wrongdoing by BMG, only by Bob singer and the Vaad. For you to publicly condemn Hershel Hershkowitz as fighting against yeshiva is untrue and causing Machlokes. By BMG publicly inserting themselves into this race, they are embarrassing themselves. From your hysterical-sounding article, one would think that if Hershel Hershkowitz wins, BMG will be ruined!!! Many people’s only question is how many tens of millions does BMG stand to loose that they are willing to look so foolish and petty in the eyes of Klal Yisroel.

One final thought: Throughout the history of klal Yisroel, our Manhigim such as Rav Moshe Feinstein and Rav Shach, and ybl”c Rav elyashiv earned and maintained a basic respect and trust from klal yisroel and were naturally propelled into positions of leadership, and they were listened to because of that respect. In my opinion this situation no longer exists in Lakewood, and because they are still bent on controlling everything in Lakewood, when they are not listened to they resort to “Mafia-style” tactics to get people and even Rabbanim to cooperate. If the Roshei Yeshiva are truly the leaders of the people of Lakewood and their opinion is respected, why don’t they just come out endorsing Bob Singer and everyone would surely listen to them and vote for him. Why the need for endless underhanded tactics and machlokes?

This has never been the style of Gedolim in klal Yisroel. Perhaps they should finally listen to Rav Shach’s daas torah in his famous letter of 20 years ago warning them to focus on their job in yeshiva and not get involved in the town’s politics, and this way they would be respected and have a greater influence. (If you have never seen it, I would be glad to send you a copy). Not bad advice, don’t you think?

At a Lakewood public land sale a parcel was sold on 4th street to a non VAAD affiliate. Senator Singer got the sale invalidated. Ultimately The Senator got it for a VAAD associate. Then with UEZ funds the VAAD associate received more of the adjoining properties. Senator Singer is not finished, The Lakewood Community Center was located adjoining the VAAD associates assemblage. Senator Singer got Lakewood Township to abandon the current Lakewood Community Center & build a NEW Multi Million Community Center further out where none of the current users can even get there. Now the Senator wants the Township to construct a Municipal parking lot next the assemblage, so he can also have free parking for his commercial building.This all costing the Taxpayers millions.

Bob Singer’s is running for Township Committeeman primary election. Bob Singer filed with the Board of election allegedly that his campaign manager is Ms. Shubert. Ms. Shubert also signed the legally required documents. Ms.Shubert is employed by the State Senator’s office. An State employee may not legally be the one that is the campaign manager nor to sign the Sworn documents. She also has paid for the ads in BP Graphics among others. The VAAD says this pales in comparison to everything else.

Legally, Bob Singer’s candidacy is illegal and he is not a candidate for the primary. The VAAD says they’ll do an Obama birth certificate. Hakoras Hatov to the VAAD that Bob Singer is a candidate.

Don’t be fooled by this years VAAD letter

To Our Fellow Lakewood Citizens.

We are a large group of concerned taxpayers. I’m sure that you are well aware, that the primary election for Township Committee is this Tuesday June 8th. As in years past, we’ve seen letters of endorsement from the Vaad, calling for the community to vote for their choice candidate, claiming it to be “in the best interest of our Kehilla”.

Is this really the case?
Does the Vaad really look out for our best interest?
Lets take an in depth look at their previous endorsements.

Last year the VAAD endorsed John Corzine with the following;

The first paragraph of the VAAD official endorsement letter stated:
“Dear Chaverim and Families, With much at stake for our Kehilla in this election, we spent a significant amount of time speaking to Rabbonim, representatives of the neighborhoods such as the LAC, the Igud representatives of the Mosdos, downtown merchants, community groups, chesed organizations, and askanim, before arriving at our endorsements. We are pleased that our endorsements represent a wide consensus and we urge everyone to go out and vote in what is going to be a close election.”

First, we must ask ourselves, why they were claiming that their view represents a wide consensus, when the election results showed that 90% of Lakewood kehilla voted for Gov. Christie against the VAAD endorsements.
I would hate to call anyone a liar, but at best it was a very deceiving practice to make such a claim.

Next, the letter talks about “Hakaras Hatov”

“The Vaad endorses incumbent Governor Jon Corzine for reelection. We do so in line with a 40-year plus long-standing, publicly expressed, formal Kehilla policy of endorsing for reelection incumbent candidates who have been supportive of the Kehilla. This policy was originally set with the guidance of Moreinu Rav Shneur zatzal, under whose ruach and hadracha Lakewood developed, and we afford it the gravity that it therefore deserves.”

While Jon Corzine may have supported a few chosen members, he has never shown support for the needs of the Lakewood Kehilla. Secondly, “Hakoras Hatov” does not mean we pay taxes to corrupt or inept governments without questioning. Jon Corzine, in just a single term in office, has left the State of New Jersey in the biggest budget shortfall ever imaginable, and to add insult to injury, this is what was reported about our Kehilla after the gubernatorial elections last year. “The council of rabbis that runs the massive rabbinical college in town broke with its tradition of interviewing both major-party candidates before endorsing someone; instead, it gave its nod to Corzine without ever meeting with Christie.” Now how embarrassing is that, now that Christie is in office? Everybody knows that before you endorse a candidate, you meet with both parties, get both views and decide which candidate will be in the best interest of our Kehilla. It is so obvious there was never any intention of endorsing the candidate that will be in the best interest of our Kehilla.

Are we going to hear more of the same “Hakaras Hatov” deception?

BREAKING NEWS

Unconfirmed reports are coming in that while BOB SINGER is promising to lower taxes, he is giving away a 7 million dollar township land to a well connected developer / askan. The seniors were complaining that the school is in a residential house and close to the senior development, and bob promised them he will get rid of it.

So BOB, tell us, is this how you get the votes? You promise the seniors that you will get rid of it and they go out and vote for you? I am sure if they knew the deal you made they will not be happy about this.

The report came in that a well connected builder / askan is working with bob to swap the land. The land he is getting is worth 7 million dollars and the land the school is on is not worth even a million dollars. He wants to get it assessed so that he will make an even exchange with the yeshiva land which the developer owns and the developer will get the 7 million dollar township property.

Is this the only way to work? By stealing land? I am sure there are other ways to work this problem out.

Dear Aaron,I understand that you have given yourself the gaudy title of CEO. Some may find this odd. After all, who ever heard of a yeshiva with a CEO?It is thus obvious that you view the yeshiva as a business-your personal family business. You see yourself as no different than Eli Kleinman or any other CEO. You want the good life of money and power. As such, the finances of your investments are of paramount importance-much more vital than the ruchnius of the yeshiva and the well being of the yungaleit. in your eyes the only thing that matters is the bottom line $$$$We cannot blame you for not sharing our ideals and our ideology. After all, you have never tasted the sweetness of TOrah or known the joys of a kollel lifestyle. However, we must demand that you stop trying to regulate Torah and stop cynically using the yungaleit as (unpaid) pawns in your business.You must leave the “yeshiva business” immediately. Rav Moshe Shternbuch: Mezuza On The Home Of A Mixed Married Couple-BOB SINGER

Someone offered a mezuza to a Jewish man living with a non-Jewish woman. The man agreed to pay for it and hang it up on his door. Rav Moshe Shternbuch was asked (3:327) if it was worthwhile to help him at least keep this one mitzva, despite his grave situation.

Rav Shternbuch answered that a Jew who lives with a non-Jew has a Din of a Meshumad, someone who converted to another religion. A Meshumad is not even entitled to be buried in a Jewish cemetery, and neither is someone who lives with a non-Jew. This is worse than any other aveira in the Torah. He is not merely Oveid Avodah Zara he is a Meshumad.

A mezuza says Rav Shternbuch, is sign of Ol Malchus Shamayim. A Meshumad cannot have such a sign on his door. Even a Michalel Shabbos Bifarhesia may, and should, have a Mezuza because he can justify in his own mind a belief in Hashem. However this man wants live with a non-Jew, yet show that this is a fine arrangement for a kosher Jewish home.

Technically speaking, says Rav Shternbuch, the house is not even Chayav in Mezuza since in secular law the women is part owner in the assets, it becomes a house that belongs to both a Jew and non-Jew in partnership, which is not chayav in mezuza according to most Poskim.

The bottom line says Rav Shternbuch is that not only are you not obligated to assist him with his mezuza, but it is forbidden. It is our obligation to ostracize him until he divorces her and returns B’tshuva Sheleima.

We the people of Lakewood including current and former talmidim as well as the rest of us who came to this town for a better future for our children ask of you, the current Rosh Hayeshivas who represent the largest “torah” institution here in the USA and who’s legacy of the heiliger R’ Ahron Zt”l you are entrusted to uphold, we ask of you for the sake of saving the integrity of our holy mosed, to please step away as far as possible from the secular political arena whether through the direct involvement or through the administrative arm or advisory committees. It is a clear contradiction to torah values that we cherish so dearly. As you can see the amount of Sinas chinam, loshon horah, chilul hashem etc.. created year after year with the involvement of the political arm of BMG, and NO! people do not separate the two entities. Every single member of your Vaad is a direct representative of BMG. The entire Klal whether they are in Kolel or not, local or in NY will scrutinize each and every move, each shady deal, any abuse of power these individuals are involved in and project it right back to its source BMG.
If you truly believe what you preach and really mean it sincerely when you say words like “Daas Torah” and want to save this wonderful mokom torah then leave the money on the table and make a kiddush hashem and listen to the entire kehilla of Lakewood. I will promise you one thing, that if you listen and heed our advice then 100% of the Kehilla will respect you and rally behind and support the torah of BMG.

This unfairness is exactly what my opponents have employed upon me. I am sorry this happened, but drawing attention to it is just making it worse. I believe we are all playing into the hands of those that want the status quo. I am so amazed at how smart they are. They are enjoying watching me being turned into looking like the next frustrated contrarian. I will not let that happen. I am asking that you please remove all specific references to any VAAD members, Roshei mosdos, Rabbonim, or any other members of the Yeshiva community on the cleanlakewood blog. I will not allow any loshon hora whatsoever, just the issues, and ideas to solve some old problems. “It is alleged that the Lakewood Tax Assessor went crying to Senator Robert Singer (also a Lakewood Township Committeeman) to help her out of the dilemma. It is alleged that on Lakewood’s Assessor’s behalf, Senator Singer called _________________(Ocean County’s Republican boss) to intervene with the Tax Board. It’s alleged that he placed a call to Richard Hall’s (Tax Board commissioner) cell phone to advise him that the board must uphold Lakewood’s assessments………. & go tough on the tax payers appealing their appeals.
Mr. Richard Hall then called out Mr. Anthony Graziano for a short conference in the hall. Thereafter the Tax Board Commissioners turned the tables on all of the Lakewood taxpayers, pro se or with appraisers and attorneys. One attorney even brought a Court reporter the following day to record all of the proceedings. (Action required).”

Senator Singer was the Townships Liaison to the Tax Assessor. After Lakewood’s reassessment in 2006, Senator Singer got a BONUS of $10,000.00 -$25,000.00 for the assessor to defend the over assessed properties. The bonus was received in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009. The defending of the appeals are part of the assessors duties without any bonuses. The bonuses count also to the retirement benefits.It added to the Lakewood Taxpayers a million dollars a year extra for the tax appeals because Senator Singer insisted in retaining the assessor in her position.

Desperate measures…. IT IS ILLEGAL!!!
There have been reports around town that signs supporting Harold Herskowitz are being pulled out all over town, especially near the homes where the rosh hayeshiva are staying for shabbos chizuk. Please look out. Taking out a campaign sign is a felony. If you see someone taking out a sign and know who it is report it on here. Or take a pic with your phone camera. We will call the police and have these people prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

It was bad enough that some of our heilige moisdos that we all support felt it was necessary to endorse a man that ran off with a shikse and now attends church. A destroyer of what we all stand for. Now he was invited by Bais Faiga to speak to our holy little girls. All Bais Faiga girls parents are very angry. We cannot believe they would let a menuval, a rasha , and meshumad speak to our girls. When you talk to a frum Jew who admits he is supporting Bob Singer in this election he has a hard time answering you why? Some BS supporters are voting for him because they have negias in that he does them favors or they are close friends with him. However, the other BS supporters can only argue that Lakewood needs BS in office because he wields a lot of power.

Woe, unto these people who put their faith in Bob Singer. Don’t they realize that the only one with power is Hashem? When you make this point to them there counter argument is that a person has to do hishtadulus. I understand a person who gets a job in order to support his family is doing hishtadulus for Hashem to provide him with parnassa. I understand that when a person goes to the doctor he is doing hishtadulus so Hashem can heal him. Supporting a man who married a non-Jewish wife for political benefit and opposes all Torah values is not hishtadulus. In fact, it is probably an aveira.

It is my firm belief that those who vote for BS because they have to do their hishtadulus will be noted by Hashem and some be dealt with measure for measure. Those who put their trust in the Almight Bob Singer will someday be left to the forces of teva. Those who trust in Hashem will be saved by Hashem.

It is one thing to not vote for Hershel because you disagree with his politics, but it is a chillul Hashem and a slap in Hashem face to vote for BS because of the pretend power that so many foolish people believes he has.

The following is an email being sent around that committeeman candidate harold herskowitz is sending out to all his supporters in both the Jewish and Senior communities.

To all my friends and supporters. Many of you are asking me what has happened to the Lakewood Scoop. I can only tell you honestly, as far as I know, it is still in operation. I do not know why my posts and articles are not being published. Please note that over the past year that I have been using TLS as a vehicle to promote “the cause”, they have very often not published articles from me, whether they were controversial, angry in tone, self promoting, or simply a question of slander.
I do not know what the moderator’s reasons are this time. I realize we are close to the election and I will be sending out emails to keep everyone posted of the latest developments, and issues in our campaign.

Bob Singer seems to be struggling with confronting the issues at hand. He has currently placed ads listing all the jewish organizations that he will be helping if elected. While all the organizations are truly worthy, and I am a supporter of many of them, I do not believe that he has the ability to help them as he is saying. He is promising them support from local as well as state tax dollars.
These actions are exactly the reason he must be driven from local office once and for all. To allocate money for local charities as state senator is admirable, as long as the funds are budgeted for those types of charities. But to blindly, secretly, funnel money to certain institutions in exchange for an endorsement, is simply perpetuating more of the same self consuming, detrimental fiscal policy that Singer has been foisting upon us for 29 years.
I was also called by some of the heads of these charities. They apologized that their names were used in his ads as endorsements. They assured me that they gave no official endorsement meant to be put in print. while they are not willing to publicly state that they never endorsed him, they are embarrassed to be publicly associated with a person of his character.

I don’t understand how can our roshei yeshiva and holy VAAD members support a known Meshumad like Bob Singer against a apparently frum jew like Hershkowitz for the primary election. Bob Singer was married to Judy Singer, a Jewish woman and had two children, one is a frum girl still today. He was in the vending machine business of his father in laws. He was carrying on with his non jewish italian secretary Carol Russo. Her father is a well known connected political figure. He dumped his Jewish wife and married his shikse. She is Catholic, and for fifteen years he has been going with her to church on many Sunday mornings.
This is the person our yeshiva is endorsing? Our Gedolim have said it is assur gamur to support a Meshumad. And now even some moisdos are promising him endorsements in exchange for taxpayer money. All this so the VAAD can continue stealing from their own people. Tell Singer where to go on June 8th. He must not only not win. He should get only as many votes as there are VAAD members.
